Before I begin, I, yet again, talked a lot. So, here, again, is the option for a Shortened Version. Just scroll down until you find "Shortened Version:"
Bejeezles, after my Wii experience at the Nintendo Fusion Tour concert I went to (Click here to see the last journal for more details on my adventure at the concert.) last Thursday, I delve right back into Wii stuff for the weekend.
On Friday, I went home for break since it's now the end of the semester. Saturday, I woke up, ate cereal and a sandwich. This was to be my last meal until Sunday. My mission for Saturday was to go to Toys 'R' Us and camp out for their reservations they were going to hold for the Wii on Sunday morning.
So, on that day, while I was still at home, I called up the store and asked if anyone started to line up. The person on the other end said that it started the day before and there's, like, 25 people lined up. This was shocking, because I thought I heard people speculate about there being about 30 per store, so I feared I wouldn't be able to reserve a Wii. I immediately got directions to walk there (I still am ashamed for not being able to drive.), and I grabbed a sweater and fold-able chair. After about 45 minutes to an hour, I arrived at the store.
Well, to my relief, there weren't 25 people. Looked more like 10 or something. Everyone had their tents, blankets, umbrellas, chairs, etc. I immediately set up my chair at the end of the line. It was about 3:00 P.M. ...here we go.
Okay, so, first thing, is that I met the guys next to me. These were older gentlemen, and they looked like they were nearing the 30's or something. They were going for a PS3 each and planned on selling them on eBay for double the price. The guys next to them were a duo of buddies, and one of them went to the same high school as me, and I'm not sure about the other guy. Then there were some other random guys ahead. Some of them had started so early and already spent a night at Toys 'R' Us. Bejeezles. ...oh, and one of this trio of girls was recognizable as someone who also went to my high school.
...righteous, so, it was hot, and I faced away from the sun and just chilled (or baked or warmed or whatever) in my seat. Three hours later, we got some information on how many units Toys 'R' Us were going to have available to reserve. It came out to be 6 premium PS3s, 1 standard PS3, and 18 Wiis. Bejeezles. ...so few PS3's. Anyway, I found out that every single person in front of me were for a PS3. I was actually the only guy for a Wii, so I was pretty much guaranteed a copy already. I just have to tough it out until Sunday morning.
Later, the Wii people started to show up. I found this very interesting in that the Wii people and the PS3 people started to appear at different times. ...maybe there's something about the taste a person has in a video game system that can be linked to what kind of person they are which relates to when they decide to show up for stuff like camping out for reservations.
Anyway, this one cool Mexican guy was next to me, and we started talking about Wii and PS3. Then, a trio of teenage guys sat down next to us.
These guys were cool. Two of them had DS's, and the other had a laptop. We hit it off, and we played some multiplayer Mario Kart DS, Star Fox DS, and Tetris DS (passing it around since we didn't have enough DS's for the five of us). Later, there came a couple right behind the teenager trio, and there was another DS between them, so more playing goodness. On the laptop, we watched The 40-Year-Old Virgin. ...it's an enjoyable movie.
While waiting at Toys 'R' Us, I was worried about having to go to the bathroom, so I decided to not eat anything until I reserved that Wii. ...I went to the can a couple times before it closed, and during the night, I was a hungry hippo. ...and tired. ...and cold.
To stave off boredom and cold-ness, I did what I remembered of the "A Million Ways to be Cruel" dance by OK Go in the parking lot, and the guys I were next to asked if I could do it again since they wanted to be entertained. Cool, it's fun to do it anyway, so... I did it again. Then, I did of the little I remembered of "Here it Goes Again" even though I did not have eight treadmills.... Right, so.. yeah.
I also had a great time talking with the other peoples about the Wii, the PS3, the Virtual Console (the downloadable content of old Nintendo games which is one part of the Wii), old Nintendo games we enjoyed (and those that sucked for us), and other stuff that are nerdy, I guess.
Um... hey, what was funny is that Daylight Savings Time happened during that very time we were camping out, so I thought it was pretty nifty for such timing to happen (hah, "timing"... ...yeah. >_>; *cough* Anyway...).
...and also during the night came my dad and my sister. My sister gave me her gloves, and my dad said that he would come back at 2:00-3:00 A.M. with reinforcements of stool to put my legs up and blanket and stuff like that.
Dad did indeed come back, and he decided to stick around to support me. It was good stuff. ...he also decided to purchase a Nintendo Wii for the family for Christmas (I have three younger sisters, if you don't know.).
...and then it was really, really cold for a while. I was shaking. ...It's probably due to me being weak as well, but it was still cold.
...I found it awesome how, at one time, all the PS3 people were not associating with each other and sleeping and stuff, and all the Wii people were conversing with each other and were awake. ...hehe.
Finally, the sun came, and it was time for us to get our tickets. I was the first person to reserve the Wii here in Modesto, and that kinda makes me feel special. My dad also got to get the family Wii reserved as well since he was about 9th or 10th.
This was about 9:00 when I got my ticket, so we had an hour to kill before 10:00 to 1:00 to turn in the ticket to reserve, and I almost screwed up. We went back home, ate breakfast (FOOD!), and toileted, and then I fell asleep on the couch. ...*gasp* 1:00 was the deadline, or else my Wii was going to go to someone else, but I, luckily, woke up at 12:15 and mentioned the time thingy to my parents. I'm not sure if they forgot, didn't care, or were waiting until the last minute... ....yeesh, it scares me when things happen so... dangerously... (hah!)
...right, and I reserved it with a cool friend (I guess I can call him friend. ...he's really a friend of my friend, and I like him, he's a cool guy. I want to be his friend.). Hooray... then we went home and I crashed in a bed. *whew*
My muscles are sore. I think that had something to do with the being outside in the cold...
On a side note, I think my ears are finally starting to stop ringing from the concert last Thursday. ...or not. I could be just imagining the ringing now. ...oh, man, I hear it now! =O ...or am I?! =O AHHHH... okay, that's cool. Whether it's real or not, it adds more spice to my life. ^_^
So... the end, for now? ...yeah.
Shortened Version: I reserved a Wii.
Cheers,
Bradley

What An Update
Wow! I haven't updated my journal in over a year. And the journal entry before my last one was another year-wide-span-of-update-in-between-journal-entries. ...I guess that makes my journalism a yearly subscription! Once you finish this, I'll see ya next year!
...nah, I'll try to be better about it. ...*cough*
Anyway, here are the highlights of what's up with my life:
I can develop video games now. I went to school to learn programming for games, and I'm about to graduate in June. You can check out my group's senior project game in the description of my latest deviation (the deviation shows all the in-game art that I did for the game): Lewi
*SIGH*
*yawn* Let's see... I was tagged by ~Mizamour (https://www.deviantart.com/mizamour), AAAANNNNDDD, I thought that this was an opportune time to update my journal with SOMETHING. My last one was almost a year ago! ...funny, it was about my experience at GDC 2007, and next month, I'll be going to GDC 2008. Pretty lackluster, I guess. Like my deviation submissions. =B
I'm not gonna follow the rules, though.
Anyway,
Hey! You are tagged!
The rules :
1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal/ blog of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more persons are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leav
GDC 2007
Yay, I went to GDC (Game Developers Conference). omg =D
Prologue:
Perhaps I should explain some things first before I go into my story.
So, three weeks ago, I barge into my homey's room and talk led to him finding out how awesome I was at art (yeah, right, in comparison to all the amazing artists on deviantART). But, he wouldn't hear of my saying otherwise, so he asked me to be on his team to work on a game project. I'm on board, and we were supposed to get ready for GDC. These guys had three months. I had fourteen days. Frick.
My job is the concept artist/storyboard artist. I kinda do both at the same time. I worked on the first twelve f
OMG 2006 WAS FANTASTIC
...becuase I felt like being silly in response to ~jonathanvair (https://www.deviantart.com/jonathanvair)'s last journal.
Well, 2006 really was a good year. Dorm life and univerity schooling started that year! The beginning of the best time of my life. Wee. So, I say, yah, 2006 = yay.
Cheers,
Bradley :rose:

Sounds like you had a good time. When do you actually get the Wii itself?
