Description

Okay! So, here's some (a lot) info:

I just finished a student group project: a homebrew Nintendo DS game. Over a period of four months, I worked with four others: a game producer/manager, an engine programmer, a scripting engine/tools programmer, and a technical artist/level designer. I was the other technical artist on the team.

(Technical artist means that either we're programmers who can do art as well or artists that can do some programming, too.)

Now, between me and the other technical artist, we divided up the art responsibilities (generally. We kinda cross-covered our areas as well.). In general, he did the main character and enemies while I did the world objects and user interface.

So, what I have here is all the art that I personally did.

All the image here are actual size to what they would be on the DS, which sports screens that are 256 pixels wide by 192 pixels high. So, small spritework action! There were also backgrounds used, which is what those large rectangular images were, technically, even if some were loading screens or story screens and whatnot.

For the world objects, I did genuine pixel-by-pixel coloring (since they can be as small as 8x8!). Backgrounds and boss were just regularly drawn and shrunk down.

...oh, and no, I didn't spend four months doing this art. Four months is how long the group took, first of all, and also, I'm going to school for PROGRAMMING (so some programming work was done, too), not art. ...but the art did take an X amount of time, whatever that was.

I'll also post the link to my game here. So, just click here:

Lewis in Not-So-Wonderful Land - DS Game Download ZIP

Lewis in Not-So-Wonderful Land - DS Game Download RAR

Unzip the folder. Within in there should be an emulator, the emulator files, and the game. The emulator program is "NO$GBA" and the game is "Lewis". To play, just drap the "Lewis" file and drop it onto the "NO$GBA" file. The game should start up automatically. Now, unless you need to go into "Options" then "Controls Setup", the controls should be:

Spacebar - A
Tab - B
X key - X
Z key - Y
Ctrl - Select
Shift - Start
Left Alt - L
Right Alt - R

...right, there's no touch screen action in this game. Otherwise, you'd be using the mouse if we did implement that.

One more thing, if you wanna access the cheats menu, press X and Y at the same time. Then, while you're in the menu, press the correct sequence of buttons. Once you're out of the screen, you'll have to press X and Y again to be able to enter cheats again (or if you screwed up).

OKAY! Now, for credits. =P

Brandon Pasierb (Thanks again, man! Several tracks of music created just for our game is just so fantastical and heart-warming.)

...

...Time to work on another game!

Cheers,

Bradley :rose:

P.S. In case you wanted to know what the heck this game is all about, here's my description:

"Lewis in Not-So-Wonderful Land is a 2D side-scrolling platformer on the Nintendo DS. The premise is that a little girl's soul gets sucked into a book called "Not-So-Wonderful Land". Her plush rabbit, Lewis, comes to life (that's you!) and goes to save her. In your pursuit of Alice (that's the girl's name), you encounter many different strange worlds that are defined by the stories within the book. The game is influenced/inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll."

...rated E for Everyone. =P
